About Us
Our Journey: A Legacy Of Excellence
The Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T.) were founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima in Ernakulam, Kerala. During a time when many lived in squalor and misery, and a caste-ridden society was the norm, Mother Teresa was driven by a profound belief in the dignity of all human beings as children of God.
With the establishment of St. Teresa’s Convent in Ernakulam, Mother Teresa founded a school that welcomed students from all social and financial backgrounds. Despite the challenges of her time, she also established an orphanage, personally cared for the sick during epidemics, and started a dispensary, an industrial school for the poor, and a home for the aged. Her compassion extended to prisoners, whose spiritual needs she attended to with great care. Mother Teresa’s efforts helped to break the chains of casteism and poverty, and her legacy of liberation continues to inspire.
Inspired by her spirit, the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa are dedicated to serving in the fields of education, social work, and healthcare. Through our work at Teresian Convent Girls High School, Mysuru, we continue Mother Teresa’s mission, providing holistic education and nurturing the minds and hearts of young girls to become responsible, compassionate, and empowered individuals.
Our Patroness

Known for her profound spiritual writings and deep devotion, she emphasized the importance of prayer and a personal relationship with God. Her works, including “The Interior Castle,” continue to inspire and guide many in their spiritual journey. St. Teresa’s legacy of faith, courage, and dedication to service embodies the values we strive to instill in our students.
